Bridging Borders: U.S. Foundations and Ukranian Delegates Collaborate for Child Advocacy
Washington, D.C. – In a pivotal meeting hosted by the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire yesterday, representatives from the Amer Foundation and the Lantos Foundation convened with delegates from Ukraine to address the urgent issue of abducted Ukrainian children amid the ongoing conflict. This gathering aimed to brainstorm innovative strategies for amplifying the stories of these children, whose lives have been irreparably affected by war.
The meeting underscored the pressing need for international attention and advocacy regarding the thousands of Ukrainian children who have been forcibly deported and militarized by Russian authorities. Ukraine has officially identified 20,000 plus cases of children who have been abducted, with abhorrent reports of indoctrination and military training being conducted under the guise of rehabilitation.
“It is our moral duty to bring these heartbreaking stories to the forefront and advocate for the return of these innocent children to their families,” stated Guila Fakhoury (President of the Amer Foundation). “Together, we can ensure that their voices are heard, and their plight is not forgotten.”
During the brainstorming session, attendees discussed multiple approaches, including public awareness campaigns, advocacy for policy changes, support for documenting war crimes, and partnerships with Ukranian organizations
The meeting concluded with a commitment to take actionable steps to increase visibility for these children and enhance efforts to hold accountable those responsible for these heinous acts.
The Amer Foundation thanks the World Affairs Council of New Hampshire for facilitating this essential dialogue and pledge to continue collaborating with partners globally to prioritize the safety, well-being, and rights of the abducted children of Ukraine.
