Washington D.C.– The Amer Foundation delegates recently traveled to the nation’s capital to meet with representatives from the U.S. State Department and key members of Congress to discuss the urgent need for accountability in the case of Amer Fakhoury. These discussions mark the beginning of efforts to work with the new administration, particularly as the Trump administration appears to want to prioritize holding foreign officials accountable for actions that compromise the safety and rights of American citizens.
During the visit, the delegation met with representatives from the State Department, where they emphasized the importance of justice for individuals like Amer Fakhoury and the broader issue of protecting American citizens from unlawful detention abroad. The Amer Foundation is committed to advocating for the accountability of foreign officials, as it believes this is essential to preventing an increase in the illegal detention of U.S. citizens.
Additionally, the delegation met with the offices of Congressman Chris Pappas (D-NH) and Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), both of whom reiterated their unwavering commitment to assisting in the foundation’s mission. Their support extends not only to seeking justice for Amer Fakhoury but also to advancing peace and stability in the Middle East.
The delegation also met with Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (D-NH) as she takes on her role representing New Hampshire. She expressed her strong support for the Amer Foundation and its advocacy for justice and accountability.
In addition to seeking justice for Amer Fakhoury and other victims of illegal detention, the Amer Foundation continues to work towards advancing peace in the Middle East. Through advocacy, awareness campaigns, and policy engagement, the foundation is dedicated to fostering dialogue and promoting stability in the region. By collaborating with U.S. policymakers and international organizations, the Amer Foundation is committed to addressing the root causes of conflict and ensuring a future where human rights and sovereignty are respected.
“We are encouraged by the support we have received from both the State Department and members of Congress,” said Guila Fakhoury, President at the Amer Foundation. “Ensuring accountability for our father’s wrongful detention is not just about our family—it’s about standing up for the rights of all American citizens and preventing future injustices. At the same time, we remain dedicated to our broader mission of advancing peace in the Middle East because this in turn will reduce the illegal detention of Americans .”
The Amer Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to fight for justice, support victims of illegal detention, and promote lasting peace in the Middle East. The organization looks forward to continued collaboration with policymakers to achieve these critical goals.
